iPads in the Classroom
The iPad is one of the latest forms of technology in today's society. Created by Apple, the iPad is a tablet that has the ability to do just about everything a computer can do. On an iPad you can surf the web, check your email, stay linked in with your social networks, read books, take notes, listen to music, Skype, play games, shop, and much, much more. In the classroom, this tool can be used to make learning come alive for students. Instead of simply listening to what their teacher is saying and struggling to pay attention, students can become more involved in the learning process. With a variety of applications and functions, it can be used as an aide in any of the core subject areas.
The following video is a short example of the various ways in which iPads can be used in an elementary school classroom. In the video the students use the iPad to explore topics in Grammar, Math, and Social Studies. It is also easy to see how engaged and interested the students are during this learning experience.
